This project is focus on Raising Awareness and Preventing Gender Based Violence at DebreBirhan Internal Displaced Persons (IDP) camp. This camp is often overcrowded; it lacks adequate security measures and, faces numerous challenges that exacerbate the risk of Gender Based violence which is a pervasive issue in the IDP camps where particularly women and girls are vulnerable to various forms of violence. This project is essential for effective interventions to address GBV in IDP camps as it provides the necessary resources, capacity building opportunities and advocacy efforts to create a safe and supportive environment for Gender Based Violence survivors and to future incidents of violence and funded by Urgent Action Fund- Africa.
This project focuses on establishing a multipurpose women’s center for psychosocial support, counseling, trainings, and community activities. Further, the would-be open center is important to provide sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) prevention and response services. This project implement in Addis Ababa city, Nifas Silk Laft Sub City, Lafto, Mebrat and Jemo condominiums where most of the Eritrean refugees are living with fund found from US Embassy.
